SACRED

The programs aren't sacred.
The methods aren't sacred.
The ministries aren't sacred.
The service times aren't sacred.
The communication styles aren't sacred.
The room isn't sacred.
The committees aren't sacred.
The bylaws aren't sacred.
The denomination isn't sacred.
The style of music isn't sacred.
The color of the stage isn't sacred.
The font used on the bulletin isn't sacred.
The lobby decor isn't sacred.
The only thing that is sacred is the mission of Jesus.

Sometimes we just need to be reminded.

And be blessed.

Purity of heart is scared.

I totally agree with your comments about what is sacred and what is not when it comes to these church trappings.

Another view of "sacred" that I think you agree with comes from an A. W. Tozer book, in which he says that all of life is sacred and should be lived as such daily. His point is that we cannot divide our lives into sacred and profane, sacred characterized by religious activity and profane characterized by non-religious activity.

Of course, these are two different subjects but it immediately came to mind as I read your list.

Back to your point though, can we still use "narthex"? (In case you don't remember, an exerpt from our last Ironmen conversation.)

You Be Blessed!

LOL.
Well - you can use narthex all you want, you just won't be hearing me say it from the stage or find it in any of our writings/publications/bulletins. So you better know where the 'lobby' is. LOL.
Nice.

If one's heart is with all "purity" would that not cover it all? I think so..... And, as one's heart becomes more pure you become more scared and see what is given as scared....

Not in my view. I know dozens of people who live lives totally 'pure' and 'separated from the world' - 'holy' - but have little regard for people who don't know Christ. But you may be thinking a little differently than I on this topic and I would be interested in hearing the balance of your comments on it.

Purity would also mean reaching people as Jesus did. Full circle of understanding of "love" is scared. If they do what you say is that part of being scared? I think not... There are no conditions, scared is balanced. What does this say about those who exuse themeselves? They haven't finished the full circle of its true meaning. It is important to know if you truly are those people you claim / they claim to be...but if its truly the Lords will and hand on them, they would stand in correction... No pun intended. I am not there yet..

If they are so "holy" why would they exclude the mission of bringing people to Christ?
