Because I live on a one-acre wooded lot, I am getting an education on wildlife.
The varmints pictured are the ones I am at war with presently.
Chipmunks - digging under my driveway ... cute but annoyingly tenacious ...
Bats - sleeping under the outdoor eaves ... just plain nasty, though voracious for mosquitoes ...
Woodpeckers - enjoying the back porch wooden pillar ... like a jackhammer ...
Don't worry - none of them are actually INSIDE my house, but all around it, yeah. And they have plenty of company from the rest of God's living, breathing creations. I'm determined to win (but I'm open to tips) ...

Ewwww....when Randy and I lived in La Quinta, CA...out in the desert, we had tons of bats flying outside at night. We used to go for walks at night and look at the stars. Lol, and the bats. My best advice is to watch Caddyshack for how to deal with varmits. :)
I won a "war" with a Bat at my cabin at midnight last Thursday. Had to get about 18" away in order to win with a hand saw. Not a pretty picture. Although a video of it would have likely gone viral on YouTube. I see 'em as demon-possessed flying mice. Not that I consider my self that brave with bats - I just hated the idea of him flying over me while I was sleeping alone more than I did the idea of knocking him off.

Did you ever think of becoming a wildlife photographer? Make some $$$ on the side, maybe even add some wildlife parables to your sermons. Naw your really great the way you are at preaching the gospel.
Wow! Those are some great pictures, the squirrel and the woodpecker! You should enter them into the Kenosha News yearly calendar contest. A good photograph of an animal has a good catchlight in the eyes and is tack sharp. These two pictures have both of those qualities. Plus the composition is great also. W. Sparks

To eliminate the chipmunk(s), get a 5 gallon pail. fill it about 3/4 full of water. put it where the critter will 'find' it. place a small board across the top (like a 3/4" x 2" x the length of the diameter of the bucket. Put a handfull of sunflower seeds on the board. Gently put sunflower seeds on top of the water (they should float) so that it appears the entire bucket is filled with water (thick enough so it doesn't seem like there is any water below).
Come back the next day to take out the one that drank too much water. Put more seeds on the board and on top of water for the next one to try to eat. There will usually only be one per day - they don't like to go after the seeds in the bucket if a Floater is in there.

I would also recommend a bat house or two for the very helpful bat. They won't be seen by you in the day and then will not be a 'pest'. We had one in a cabin in canada and it nicely flew around until we opened up the door and let it out.

The Wood Pecker, I believe, is Protected under the Law so shooting it with a pellet gun or a 22 with bird shot (used for killing varments at distances of about 20 feet or less) is not - I repeat - not - the way you can get rid of it. Sorry.
But you have to CATCH me doing it.
