NIGHT BEFORE

It's the night before - heading to ISRAEL tomorrow to visit the land Jesus walked. I hardly know what to expect, but I've learned to expect the unexpected. That's kind of the Jesus-walk, isn't it? It's all one big exciting journey.

But first ... the packing. It's not like your Grandma used to pack, you know?

ipod ... check.
Kindle ... check.
Macbook ... check.
Cell phone ... check.
Electric shaver ... check.
Electric stache trimmer ... check.
Plug-in adapters ... check, check and check.

Ready to rock. Stay tuned.

If you'd like to read the blog postings of the other pastors who are going on the trip, you can do that at www.triptoisrael2010.com

Be blessed.

I hope that Jesus is with you every step of the way. I can't even begin to imagine how exciting this is. I hope to make the trip someday, as well. I just got a PBS documentary from the library a couple of days ago, too..after you said you were actually getting to go.

I know it's not quite the same thing, but I truly do want to go to the Holyland Experience in Orlando, FL someday, too. Due to the cost, that might come before the Holyland itself.

Tell us all about it. It's nice to hear about what you SEE...but I want to know how it FEELS. Did you feel the presence of God with you...what is it like at the Western Wall, was it as moving as we hear it is...how is it to walk in the footsteps of Jesus as He was going to die for our sins? He did all of this for us...I just want to know what it is like to be there.

Safe travels...

Have a blessed trip. A word of warning, be careful if you carry a backpack, especially at the Via Dolorosa as our son Jamie was pick-pocketed. They are very clever using someone as a decoy, an old lady in his case, while another took off with his wallet. The garden tomb is amazing as well as the Western Wall. Enjoy every minute. Looking forward to great tales when you get back.

Oh my goodness...I am sure my interest in hearing about this trip, pales in comparison to your making it...BUT, I am living vicariously thru you. I want to go someday in my life, but at this point have no idea how I can afford it.

I know you will be jet-lagged, busy, having a wonderful time...yet, I know you...I expect that you will chomping at the bit to let us all in on the wonder and sacredness of this trek. As much as you can, bring it to life for us, who cannot be there. Having read your blog for so long, I know you have the literary capability. Write as though you are writing to Jesus himself...

You and Joelene soak up every minute of this opportunity to travel the land of our Lord you both have served for most of your life. Blessed trip for you both. I'll miss your sermon on Sunday...won't be the same without you, but this is far more important.
